Firefighters in Kuwait extinguished a blaze at a market in the West Abu Fatira Industrial Area on Friday, with authorities confirming that no injuries were reported.
The fire was brought under control by teams from the Al-Bairaq and Al-Qurain fire centres after emergency crews responded to reports of the incident. Officials said the flames were contained shortly after arrival at the scene.
Blaze erupts in West Abu Fatira days after fire force inspection, raising renewed attention on safety compliance in industrial and commercial zones across Kuwait, where authorities have stepped up monitoring in recent months.
The incident came only days after the Kuwait Fire Force conducted an inspection campaign in the same area, which led to the closure of several buildings and the recording of dozens of safety violations. Officials said 64 breaches of fire safety regulations were identified during that drive.
Authorities had previously warned that inspections were aimed at ensuring compliance with fire prevention standards and reducing risks in densely used commercial areas.
While the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, officials have not confirmed whether the affected market had been among the sites cited during the earlier inspections.
Blaze erupts in West Abu Fatira days after fire force inspection as Gulf states continue to intensify safety enforcement in industrial zones, where rapid commercial activity has increased pressure on infrastructure and regulatory oversight.
In a separate operation on the same day, the Public Authority for Industry carried out a joint inspection campaign in the South Amghara scrap yard area, supported by security and labour authorities. Officials said violations were recorded and legal action was taken against offenders, while some workers were referred for residency and labour infractions.
Authorities said inspection campaigns will continue in coordination with relevant agencies to strengthen compliance and protect public and private property.
