Europe and Oman Celebrate 75 Years of Unity Through Jazz and Cultural Exchange

In a striking celebration of international friendship, the European Union and Oman united through music and diplomacy. On 12 May 2025, the Delegation of the European Union to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Oman partnered with the Italian Embassy in Oman to host a jazz concert. This special event took place at Bait Al Zubair and celebrated the 75th anniversary of Europe Day. The concert honored Europe-Oman cultural cooperation, a shared value at the heart of both communities.

Ambassador Dr. Afkar bin Nathim bin Ali Al Farsi from Oman’s Foreign Ministry attended the evening. He joined Christophe Farnaud, the EU Ambassador to Oman, and Pierluigi D’Elia, the Italian Ambassador to Oman. Together, they welcomed senior Omani officials, European diplomats, and cultural leaders. Their presence highlighted the importance of Europe-Oman cultural cooperation in fostering mutual understanding.

The audience enjoyed a stunning performance by renowned Italian jazz musicians Luca Velotti and Silvia Manco. Velotti, best known for his work with Paolo Conte, and Manco, a talented pianist and singer, enchanted the crowd. Their music combined classic jazz with European elegance, creating a bridge between cultures. Through their melodies, the artists echoed the message of Europe-Oman cultural cooperation—a harmony built on respect, dialogue, and shared history.

Europe Day marks the 9 May 1950 Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundation for a united Europe. Ambassador Christophe Farnaud reminded guests of Europe’s mission for peace, unity, and cooperation. He praised Oman’s vital role in promoting regional stability and highlighted the strong partnership between the two sides.

It was a clear symbol of the EU’s efforts to deepen cultural ties with Oman. Through events like these, Europe and Oman strengthen bonds rooted in peace, shared values, and lasting friendship. The celebration offered a clear reminder: cultural diplomacy remains a powerful tool for global cooperation.
