Abebe Getahun and Yimer Mohammed from Ethiopia dominated the Tristar Half Marathon in Dubai. Getahun won the Men’s 21.1km race, while Mohammed secured victory in the Women’s category. The race took place at the Nad Al Sheba and Meydan District on Sunday.
Strong Turnout for the Event
The marathon attracted runners from 60 nationalities, making it a diverse and competitive event. More than 1,000 participants took part, showcasing their endurance across different race categories. Over 300 runners competed in the 21.1km distance, while nearly 300 joined the 3km race. The 10km race saw more than 250 competitors, and over 200 ran the 5km course.
Promoting Health and Fitness
The Tristar Half Marathon aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle and bring communities together. Rajesh Sreedharan, Global Maintenance Manager at Linde Global Helium, praised the initiative. He highlighted how the event encouraged teamwork and inspired Tristar’s in-house fitness program, ‘Helium Health.’
“The Tristar initiative helped us promote a strong sense of community and teamwork through shared training goals. It motivated us to launch ‘Helium Health,’ an in-house fitness programme offering a holistic approach to well-being and excellence,” Sreedharan said.
Linde Global Helium staff previously joined Tristar’s first running event in February 2024. That race, called the Tristar Community Run, took place at Mina Rashid in Dubai.
Celebrating a Successful Marathon
The organizing team expressed gratitude to participants, volunteers, and supporters. They commended the dedication of all runners, especially those representing 60 nationalities.
“We sincerely thank all participants, supporters, and volunteers for making the Tristar Half Marathon a tremendous success! Special congratulations to every runner representing 60 different nationalities residing in the UAE,” the organizing team stated.
The Tristar Half Marathon once again proved that running brings people together, promoting fitness and strengthening community ties in Dubai.
