Empowering Creativity and Talent Development for People with Disabilities in Kuwait

Kuwait is leading efforts to empower people with disabilities, fostering their creativity and talents in alignment with the nation’s commitment to inclusion and Kuwait Vision 2035. Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for people with disabilities to showcase and develop their artistic and craft talents at the “One Community for All Talents” exhibition.

Speaking at the launch of the event, organized by the Public Authority for the Disabled’s Vocational Rehabilitation Department, Dr. Al-Huwailah highlighted the exhibition as an opportunity to empower individuals with disabilities by providing a platform for them to display their artwork, handicrafts, and products. The event, held at Al-Shaheed Park from February 12 to 13, aims to build self-confidence and nurture creativity in a supportive environment.

The Minister emphasized Kuwait’s ongoing commitment to the empowerment and integration of people with disabilities, reinforcing the importance of vocational programs, partnerships, and artistic platforms in developing their skills. These initiatives align with the broader goal of integrating people with disabilities into society, ensuring they have the opportunity to participate in cultural and artistic activities.

Dr. Al-Huwailah praised the Public Authority for the Disabled’s efforts to implement specialized rehabilitation programs in collaboration with various entities. She underlined the importance of supporting people with disabilities to fully develop their creative potential and contribute meaningfully to society.

Wafaa Al-Muhanna, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for the Disabled, expressed that the exhibition is a key part of the Authority’s strategy to enhance the skills of people with disabilities and raise awareness about their rights and abilities. She also noted ongoing partnerships with public benefit associations and the Human Construction Society for Social Development to further enhance vocational rehabilitation and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

The exhibition also gained praise from the UN Representative and Resident Coordinator in Kuwait, Ghada Al-Taher, who recognized Kuwait’s dedication to rehabilitating and empowering people with disabilities through various programs and artistic platforms. Al-Taher highlighted that the artwork on display in the exhibition reflects the immense creativity of people with disabilities, underscoring their vital role in achieving the goals of “New Kuwait Vision 2035.”

This initiative reflects Kuwait’s continued efforts to provide opportunities for talent development and create a more inclusive society, where the contributions of people with disabilities are celebrated and recognized.
