The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced that companies must follow the employment rule requiring one Iraqi worker for every foreign worker. This regulation aims to protect local job opportunities and balance the workforce.
According to ministry spokesperson Hassan Khawam, many investment companies operate without registering their workers in the social security system. He emphasized that inspection teams regularly visit these companies to ensure compliance with labor laws.
Khawam also revealed that 42,000 foreign workers are officially registered under the system. This number has an impact on local employment, making it essential for companies to follow the employment rule strictly. The ministry remains committed to enforcing this policy to create fair opportunities for Iraqi workers.
By maintaining a 50% employment ratio between local and foreign workers, the ministry seeks to reduce job competition and support the national workforce. With continuous inspections and strict regulations, authorities are working to ensure that every company follows the employment rule to create a balanced labor market.
