Egyptian President Meets Qatari Business Leaders to Bolster Bilateral Economic Ties

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a high-level meeting with prominent Qatari business leaders and CEOs of major Qatari firms on Sunday. This was part of his official visit to Qatar. The gathering aimed to strengthen economic cooperation. It also aimed to elevate the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani attended the meeting. Several key ministers were also present. They included Minister of Finance H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Municipality H E Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, and Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs H E Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed. Representatives from the Qatari Businessmen Association and Qatar Chamber attended as well.

President El Sisi underscored Egypt’s commitment to expanding collaboration with Qatar. He emphasized the importance of intensifying joint efforts to build a robust economic partnership that benefits both sides.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman praised the historic and strategic ties between Qatar and Egypt. He noted the substantial progress in bilateral relations in recent years. He attributed this development to the shared vision of both countries’ leadership to foster sustainable growth and prosperity.

Minister Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed noted that trade between Qatar and Egypt has grown by 50% annually over the past four years. This growth is a testament to the countries’ deepening economic relationship.

Chairman of Qatar Chamber H E Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani stressed the need to further boost trade volumes. He believes the volumes should reflect the economic potential of both countries. He highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce to strengthen business ties.

The session also featured remarks from private sector representatives. They discussed future investment opportunities, integration strategies, and the importance of public-private cooperation in enhancing Qatar–Egypt economic ties.
