Doha to Host Major Islamic Finance Conference

The 11th Doha Islamic Finance Conference is scheduled to begin on April 8th under the theme “Integration of Blockchain and AI: The Future of Islamic Finance.” Organized by Bait Al-Mashura Finance Consultations, the event is supported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It is also supported by Dukhan Bank, the General Directorate of Endowments, and the Qatar Financial Centre.

The conference will gather government bodies, global organizations, and leading financial and academic institutions. They will explore the evolving landscape of Islamic finance. It aims to address the intersection of Shariah principles with emerging technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence.

Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, emphasized the importance of the event in advancing Qatar’s role in Islamic finance. This is particularly crucial as demand grows for diverse, Shariah-compliant financial services. He highlighted that the conference will examine key topics. These include the integration of AI and blockchain into financial products. Additionally, it will cover decentralized platforms and regulatory challenges.

Discussions will also cover investment opportunities in sectors like gaming and e-sports. They will include the development of decentralized finance platforms, and the future of managing endowments (Awqaf) through smart technologies.

Eng. Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments, noted the conference’s long-standing role in shaping the Islamic finance landscape in Qatar and globally. He stressed its contribution to fostering innovation, sustainability, and Qatar’s competitive edge in the field of endowments and Islamic financial services.
