Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko has confirmed his country’s strong interest in expanding Belarus-Oman trade cooperation, with a focus on port infrastructure.
He shared this vision during a high-level meeting with Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Crown Prince of Oman, on May 19.
President Lukashenko emphasized the importance of utilizing Oman’s ports as logistical gateways to strengthen bilateral trade and tap into African markets.
He referred to the discussions following his December 2024 visit to Muscat, which opened doors for practical collaboration.
“After my visit, we exchanged several proposals that now form the foundation of our cooperation strategy,” Lukashenko stated.
He stressed that both countries are prioritizing economic and trade partnerships in the immediate future.
According to Lukashenko, Oman has expressed interest in various sectors of the Belarusian economy.
He highlighted tourism, agriculture, and food exports as key areas where Belarus-Oman trade cooperation can thrive.
Additionally, the President pointed out that Belarus sees Oman’s ports as vital infrastructure for regional operations.
He believes these ports can serve as Belarus’ gateway to wider Gulf and African markets.
“We are interested in your ports, through which we can expand operations across the region,” he added.
This sentiment was shared by the press office of the President of Belarus in an official statement.
The two leaders discussed additional sectors such as youth engagement, sports partnerships, and cultural exchange.
However, trade remains the central pillar in the current stage of Belarus-Oman trade cooperation.
As Oman continues positioning itself as a logistics hub, Belarus views this partnership as a strategic opportunity.
Both sides are expected to explore joint ventures and logistics integration in upcoming rounds of bilateral talks.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to deepen diplomatic and commercial ties between Minsk and Muscat.
