Bahrain’s Coast Guard Tightens Maritime Safety with Major Diving Shop Inspections

Bahrain’s Coast Guard Command has launched a major joint inspection campaign targeting several diving shops across the Kingdom. This initiative reflects the country’s growing commitment to enhancing maritime safety and ensuring strict compliance with national regulations.

The Ministry of Interior announced that the campaign involved close coordination with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, the Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority. Together, these authorities worked to create a stronger and safer maritime environment for both workers and businesses.

During the inspections, officials verified the validity of all operating licenses and checked that diving equipment met the required safety standards. They also examined the legal status of employees, ensuring that all workers held valid permits and met labour regulations. By addressing these key areas, the campaign supported Bahrain’s vision of enhancing maritime safety while strengthening transparency and accountability within the sector.

Additionally, the Coast Guard emphasized the importance of cooperation between security and regulatory agencies. Through teamwork and shared responsibility, the campaign demonstrated how coordination can improve enforcement and raise compliance standards. This unified approach is essential for protecting marine life, ensuring business integrity, and preserving the Kingdom’s waters for future generations.

The inspection teams also documented several violations during the campaign. Legal measures were promptly taken against the facilities found in breach of regulations. Authorities reaffirmed that such operations will continue regularly to maintain discipline across all maritime activities.

Moreover, the Coast Guard highlighted that the joint efforts are not only about enforcing rules but also about building awareness. Officials reminded shop owners and divers to prioritize safety in every aspect of their work. They encouraged regular checks, proper equipment maintenance, and legal documentation as vital steps toward a sustainable diving industry.

By the end of the campaign, officials agreed that the operation had achieved its goal of enhancing maritime safety through active enforcement and collaboration. The Coast Guard promised to continue these inspections to protect Bahrain’s marine sector and uphold the nation’s high safety standards.
