Bahrain Space Agency Advances Collaboration in Engineering and Energy Research

Bahrain’s space and technology sector gained momentum as the Bahrain Space Agency joined a scientific symposium at the University of Strathclyde Bahrain. The event, titled “An Overview of Engineering and Energy Research: The Funding Landscape and Commercialization of Research,” highlighted advances in applied research, funding strategies, and international cooperation. Importantly, it offered insights to strengthen Bahrain’s space and technology sector.

The symposium took place on the university campus in Manama. Professor Campbell Booth, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, discussed research funding and commercialization. He explained how universities and industry can collaborate to boost innovation. Consequently, national projects can benefit from international expertise and best practices.

Engineer Aisha Al-Haram, Head of Satellite Design and Construction at the agency, stated that participation helps localize knowledge. She added that applying global expertise enhances national research efficiency. Therefore, Bahrain’s space and technology sector can grow faster while fostering innovation.

Engineer Yaqoub Al-Qassab, representing the agency, noted that the discussions improved the thinking of research institutions. He also highlighted that collaboration with industry enhances the quality of national scientific outputs. Furthermore, such events build the skills of Bahraini personnel in advanced engineering and energy.

Professor Ruya Bubshait emphasized that partnerships with universities like Strathclyde create new knowledge-sharing opportunities. She explained that cooperation improves research quality and prepares national talent for complex projects. Moreover, this collaboration supports applied innovation in engineering, space, and energy sectors.

The symposium is part of a memorandum of understanding between the Bahrain Space Agency and the University of Strathclyde Bahrain. Through this agreement, both parties organize joint events and research exchanges. Together, they aim to develop skilled personnel, promote applied research, and strengthen Bahrain’s space and technology sector.

Overall, the event demonstrated Bahrain’s commitment to science and innovation. By fostering partnerships, encouraging applied research, and training skilled personnel, Bahrain’s space and technology sector continues to expand. Consequently, the country is well-positioned to lead regional development in advanced sciences.
