Bahrain Parliament Sets Global Benchmark With Advanced International Standards

Bahrain continues to strengthen its global standing through international standards leadership, as the Council of Representatives advances institutional excellence. From the start, the General Secretariat placed development, innovation, and sustainability at the center of its strategy. Moreover, this direction aligns directly with Bahrain Vision 2030 and its long-term governance goals.

The Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives confirmed that development plans now focus strongly on global benchmarks. As a result, institutional efficiency continues to improve across all operational levels. Additionally, service quality has increased through structured administrative reforms. At the same time, governance and sustainability remain central priorities.

Furthermore, adopting international frameworks reflects a strong commitment to global best practices. These practices guide administrative, technical, and environmental performance. Consequently, the General Secretariat continues to modernize its internal systems. Meanwhile, leadership directives support continuous improvement across parliamentary operations.

This announcement came during a meeting with representatives from SGS Near East FZCO. During the meeting, the General Secretariat celebrated receiving several international accreditation certificates. These certificates recognize years of strategic planning and disciplined implementation. Therefore, the achievement highlights Bahrain’s growing institutional maturity.

Most notably, the Secretariat received the ISO 42001 certification for artificial intelligence management systems. This achievement places Bahrain at the forefront of responsible technology governance. In fact, the Council of Representatives became the first legislative body worldwide to obtain this certification. As a result, Bahrain reinforces its role in ethical and controlled AI adoption.

In addition, the Secretariat secured ISO 14001 certification for environmental management. This step demonstrates a clear commitment to sustainability. Consequently, parliamentary operations now follow environmentally responsible practices. Moreover, waste reduction and resource preservation guide daily institutional decisions.

At the same time, the General Secretariat strengthened its digital protection framework. It received ISO 27001 certification for information security management. This certification confirms strong cybersecurity readiness. Therefore, sensitive legislative data remains protected from emerging digital threats.

These certifications collectively enhance international standards leadership within Bahrain’s legislative institutions. More importantly, they reflect an integrated approach to technology, governance, and sustainability. Accordingly, the Secretariat now operates within a secure and future-ready framework.

Representatives from SGS praised the Secretariat’s commitment to quality and innovation. They focused on the effective integration of digital solutions with governance systems. Additionally, they highlighted the balance between technological advancement and environmental responsibility.

SGS Near East FZCO operates as part of the global SGS Group. It delivers inspection, testing, and certification services across the Middle East. Through strict impartiality, it supports both public and private institutions. Therefore, its recognition carries strong international credibility.

Overall, Bahrain continues to elevate parliamentary performance through international standards leadership. By embracing innovation, sustainability, and security, the General Secretariat sets a regional example. Ultimately, these achievements reinforce Bahrain’s vision for transparent, efficient, and future-focused governance.
