The Bahrain Space Agency recently joined the fourth edition of the New Africa Space Conference, hosted by the Egyptian Space City. This international event attracted over 550 participants, including leaders from Arab, African, European, and Asian space agencies. The conference brought together experts, researchers, academics, and students to explore the future of global space collaboration and innovation.
The event featured a large exhibition that highlighted cutting-edge developments in space technology. More than 53 organizations from 65 countries presented ongoing projects and discussed opportunities for future cooperation. This gathering served as a platform for global space collaboration, helping nations align their space ambitions with shared technological goals.
Representing Bahrain, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Asiri, Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Space Agency, emphasized the importance of Bahrain’s participation. He noted that it was the Agency’s first involvement in a specialized African space forum. He praised the diverse perspectives and visionary discussions that took place, particularly on the evolving role of space treaties and their relevance to Africa’s aspirations.
Dr. Al Asiri highlighted proposals from African space leaders, many of whom called for reviewing international space agreements to reflect the continent’s developmental goals. He described the conversations as constructive and forward-thinking, pointing to Africa’s growing presence in the global space arena.
One of the conference’s significant milestones was the launch of the African Space Agency. Held during the opening session, this achievement was seen as a step forward in uniting African nations under a common vision for space development.
