Bahrain’s Islamic Endowments Council has concluded a series of foundational training courses for new imams and muezzins as part of efforts to enhance religious services and strengthen the role of mosques in the community.
A total of 37 candidates preparing to serve in mosques participated in the programme, which delivered 33 hours of training covering religious, practical and professional skills.
The courses focused on key areas including the jurisprudence of the call to prayer and leading congregational prayers, the duties and conduct of imams and muezzins, vocal performance, recitation techniques, and mosque management. Organisers said the programme was designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively serve worshippers and support the broader mission of mosques.
Training sessions were held at the Ahmed Al-Fateh Islamic Center, providing what officials described as a suitable environment for achieving the programme’s objectives.
Abdullah Rashid Al-Muaili, Director of the Department of Mosques and Religious Facilities, said the initiative reflects the council’s commitment to preparing new religious officials through comprehensive academic and professional training.
He added that the department continues to develop its training programmes to meet the evolving needs of mosque work, enhance the capabilities of imams and muezzins, and improve the quality of services provided to worshippers across the Kingdom.
At the conclusion of the programme, the department thanked participants for their commitment and engagement throughout the training period and wished them success in their future roles serving Bahrain’s mosques and communities.
