His Highness Commander Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa met Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren at Riffa Palace today. Vice Admiral Ahlgren serves as the United Kingdom’s Defence Senior Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa.
During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their strong partnership. They also reviewed opportunities to expand Bahrain-UK defence ties in light of regional and global challenges.
Commander Shaikh Isa praised the historic and strategic alliance between Bahrain and the United Kingdom. He highlighted their shared dedication to peace and stability across multiple regions.
Additionally, he acknowledged the UK’s active military role in safeguarding international waters and global interests. These actions, he noted, strengthen the foundation for advancing Bahrain-UK defence ties.
Both parties stressed the importance of deepening coordination between military institutions. They discussed ways to enhance collaboration through joint training, intelligence sharing, and technology exchange.
Moreover, the meeting included discussions on pressing regional and international issues. The leaders examined common security threats and explored unified responses through international cooperation.
Shaikh Isa bin Salman also emphasised Bahrain’s appreciation for the UK’s steady support over decades. He noted that both countries benefit greatly from open and ongoing dialogue on defence matters.
Vice Admiral Ahlgren, for his part, expressed gratitude for Bahrain’s role in promoting regional peace. He affirmed the UK’s readiness to strengthen Bahrain-UK defence ties further through coordinated strategic initiatives.
