Baghdad Shines as Iraq’s First Padel Championship Makes Sporting History

Iraq’s first Padel Championship ended in Baghdad with a thrilling display of energy and talent. The three-day event took place at the Al-Jadriya Padel courts and gathered 14 competitive clubs from across Iraq. Iraq’s first Padel Championship marked a powerful step forward for the nation’s growing sports community.

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as players competed for top honors. Amanat Baghdad Club claimed victory in the men’s division after a series of intense matches. Al-Sayd Club finished second, while Shabab Al-Mashahda and Al-Qadisiya followed closely in third and fourth place. In the women’s competition, Shabab Al-Mashahda Club secured the top spot. Al-Tadhamon earned second place, while Peshmerga and Al-Sayd ranked third and fourth.

Iraqi Padel Federation member Ahmed Al-Oloji praised the players’ determination and skill. He said the tournament revealed the sport’s incredible potential in Iraq. According to him, Iraq’s first Padel Championship highlighted the rapid rise of padel among young athletes. He also announced that the Federation plans to create a structured system that begins with youth training and develops into national teams.

A special technical committee will identify standout players from the tournament. These athletes will join Iraq’s first official men’s and women’s padel teams. The new teams will compete internationally and represent Iraq on the global stage. Al-Oloji emphasized that this initiative will strengthen Iraq’s sporting identity and inspire future generations.

He also addressed the sport’s quick but unregulated expansion in malls and complexes. To improve standards, the Federation will inspect courts across the country. Committees will evaluate facilities according to international rules and guide owners to meet official criteria. The Federation also plans to turn select courts into certified training academies managed directly by its experts.

As Iraq’s first Padel Championship concluded, excitement filled the capital. Fans celebrated a fresh beginning for Iraqi padel, while players looked ahead with ambition. The championship proved that Iraq’s sporting scene is ready for transformation, driven by youth, discipline, and national pride.
