Doha – Qatar hosted a high-level meeting on Wednesday. The meeting brought together Arab foreign ministers and the US President’s Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. They discussed the reconstruction of Gaza following the recent hostilities.
The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. Senior diplomats from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) were also present.
During the discussions, the Arab ministers formally presented the Gaza reconstruction plan. This plan was approved at the Arab Summit in Cairo on March 4, 2025. They agreed to maintain ongoing consultations and coordination with the US. This is to ensure the plan serves as the foundation for post-war rebuilding efforts in Gaza.
The ministers also underscored the importance of solidifying the ceasefire in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. They called for genuine efforts toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
Reaffirming their commitment to regional stability, the officials stressed the need for intensified diplomatic efforts and continued dialogue with international stakeholders. This is to enhance security and peace in the region.
