In a major environmental push, the Al Thumama cleanup campaign has cleared more than 2,500 truckloads of waste from Fareej 50. The Ministry of Municipality (MoM), along with Doha Municipality and Seashore Group, led this impactful operation.
Notably, this effort followed clear directives from Minister Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah. He consistently emphasizes the need for a clean, sustainable, and safe environment. Furthermore, the campaign supports Qatar’s National Vision 2030, especially the pillar of environmental development.
To ensure effective results, the Al Thumama cleanup campaign involved field surveys and strict monitoring. Officials targeted locations plagued by random waste dumping. This problem worsened due to rapid urban expansion in the district.
Moreover, General Director of Doha Municipality, Mohammad Hassan Al Nuaimi, praised the campaign’s success. He emphasized that teamwork between government and private entities is crucial. In addition, he highlighted that such collaboration improves urban life for all residents.
As a result, Al Nuaimi called on developers to strictly follow waste disposal laws. He warned that any violations would face firm penalties. Accordingly, the ministry is strengthening field inspections and enforcing Public Hygiene Law No. 18 of 2017.
On the private sector side, Salem Al Muhannadi, CEO of Seashore Group, expressed pride in the Al Thumama cleanup campaign. He reaffirmed the company’s role in offering green, innovative solutions. Importantly, he noted that this supports the vision for sustainable cities.
In related news, the ministry announced near completion of Al Furjan Park in Al Thumama. This park, opening in Q3 2025, will provide much-needed recreational space for families. It also promotes active living and community wellness.
Looking ahead, the Ministry of Municipality will continue conducting field studies. These will help identify residential needs, expand services, and guide infrastructure projects based on modern standards.
Ultimately, the ministry urges all stakeholders to take environmental responsibility seriously. Together, their efforts will protect Qatar’s urban spaces for future generations.
