Ajman Department Launch: New Era for Tourism, Culture, Media

Ajman Department launch marks a major shift in the emirate’s governance of tourism, culture, and media. Consequently, the new department consolidates previous entities into a single body, aiming to streamline operations. Specifically, Law No. (2) of 2025 establishes the Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media and appoints Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi as Chairman.

Furthermore, the department absorbs the roles, obligations, and budgets of the former Ajman Department of Tourism Development and the Ajman Culture and Media Department. In addition, all employees transfer to the new department with existing entitlements intact, ensuring continuity and preserving their rights. In parallel, Emiri Decree No. (15) of 2025 names Mahmood Alhashmi as Director-General.

Moreover, the Ajman Department launch seeks to develop a unified legislative framework governing tourism, cultural initiatives, and media operations. It also aims to keep policies aligned with global standards and professional ethics. Additionally, the department plans to enhance Ajman’s reputation locally, regionally, and internationally.

Key objectives include creating a competitive and innovative ecosystem, expanding services, and showcasing Ajman’s tourism attractions, heritage, and historic sites. At the same time, the department also plans to strengthen cultural identity and highlight local talent. Therefore, it will support creative industries while promoting investment and economic growth.

In terms of tourism responsibilities, the department will handle policymaking, event management, licensing, facility classification, promotion, and investment attraction. Similarly, it will oversee cultural and artistic development, heritage preservation, and museum management. Meanwhile, in the media sector, it will regulate operations, issue licenses, monitor content, and support media projects.

Additionally, the department intends to nurture leadership talent in tourism, culture, and media. It will also develop infrastructure to attract investment, increase GDP, and foster cultural exchange. Notably, Ajman’s headquarters will be in the city, with future offices possible inside and outside the emirate.

Furthermore, the law nullifies all previous legislation for the former departments but keeps current regulations effective until replacements are issued. Consequently, the Ajman Department launch will take effect 90 days after its announcement and will appear in the Official Gazette.

Overall, the Ajman Department launch represents a strategic effort to integrate tourism, culture, and media into one coordinated entity. Ultimately, this initiative highlights the emirate’s vision for economic growth, cultural preservation, and international visibility.
