Ahmadi Sports Day: A Celebration of Heritage and Community Engagement

The Ahmadi Sports Day, organized by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), is more than just a sporting event—it is a reflection of Kuwait’s deep-rooted heritage and the nation’s commitment to community engagement. The event, which draws thousands of participants each year, was celebrated with great enthusiasm this year. This marked its importance in the cultural calendar of Kuwait.

Ahmad Al-Eidan, CEO of KOC, emphasized the event’s national significance during his speech at the celebration. He highlighted how the event, which was first launched in 1974, was revived last year after a 17-year hiatus. The gathering saw nearly 3,000 participants engaging in a variety of sports activities. This demonstrated a strong public interest and widespread support. Al-Eidan expressed his gratitude for the contributions of Sheikh Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Governor of Ahmadi. He also appreciated the dedication of KOC teams who worked tirelessly to make the event a success.

Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad also praised the occasion, recognizing Ahmadi Sports Day as a key part of Kuwait’s cultural legacy. He expressed appreciation for past governors who played a role in maintaining the tradition. He noted the large turnout this year, which reflects the youthful enthusiasm for sports and competition in Kuwait.

In addition to the sporting activities, KOC honored former Governors of Ahmadi and celebrated the achievements of veteran Kuwaiti football stars. A special documentary was showcased, highlighting the rich history of Ahmadi Sports Day and its lasting impact on the community.

Held annually at Ahmadi Park over three days, Ahmadi Sports Day offers a wide range of recreational and competitive events. The celebration not only promotes sports and physical activity but also fosters community spirit and unity among citizens and residents alike. This event has become a symbol of Kuwait’s cultural and sporting heritage. It continues to engage participants of all ages and backgrounds, ensuring its place in Kuwait’s future celebrations.
