Kuwait’s Ahmadi Governor has launched a major environmental program. Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah introduced the “ECO” initiative on Tuesday. This national campaign specifically targets electronic waste recycling in schools. Consequently, it aims to promote sustainable development and protect public health.
The Governor emphasized the initiative’s critical importance. He warned that improper e-waste disposal threatens natural resources. Furthermore, it endangers human well-being. He described this collaboration as an innovative public-private partnership. Several key organizations are involved including the Ministry of Education and Kuwait Airways.
Jassem Al-Abouh, founder of ECO Business Incubator, provided program details. The campaign will run until January next year. It specifically targets twelve secondary schools across the nation. Each school will receive dedicated recycling bins. Additionally, interactive workshops will strengthen environmental responsibility.
The Ministry of Education’s representative expressed strong support. Hamad Al-Hamad noted six schools are already participating. He highlighted the program’s growing impact since its 2023 launch. Recycled waste volumes are increasing significantly. Moreover, the initiative fosters greater social responsibility.
Kuwait Airways chairman reaffirmed their commitment. Abdulmohsen Al-Fagaan emphasized their role in raising environmental awareness. The airline is reducing carbon emissions through fleet upgrades.
