EU-Kuwait Culture Forum Launched to Deepen Cultural Dialogue and Celebrate 2025 Arab Capital of Culture

Under the patronage of Abdulrahman Bedah Al-Mutairi, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) and the European Union Delegation to Kuwaitco-hosted the first-ever EU-Kuwait Culture Forum on 19 May.

Held at Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah, the event marked a dual celebration—Kuwait’s designation as the 2025 Arab Capital of Culture and Media, and Europe Month activities in Kuwait.

Distinguished speakers from both Kuwait and European Union Member States gathered to highlight cultural diplomacy and heritage collaboration.
The forum aimed to strengthen existing partnerships and explore new opportunities for bilateral cultural exchange.

Sessions focused on heritage preservation, artistic innovation, and community engagement through museums and public programs.

The event included a video showcase that illustrated long-standing European contributions to Kuwait’s cultural and architectural landscape.
Viewers were reminded of the deep-rooted connections spanning multiple artistic and urban disciplines.

Anne Koistinen, EU Ambassador to Kuwait, praised the initiative as a landmark in bilateral relations.
“This forum celebrates centuries of shared culture and dialogue between Kuwait and the EU,” she said.

She added, “The European Union values Kuwait’s role in regional peace and its commitment to cultural development.”

The EU-Kuwait Culture Forum featured discussions on programs like the European Capitals of Culture and local heritage initiatives.
Experts from both regions shared success stories in audiovisual arts, museum curation, and public engagement. The EU-Kuwait Culture Forum will now serve as a platform for ongoing collaboration across cultural sectors.

As Kuwait prepares for its year as Arab Capital of Culture and Media in 2025, this forum sets a strong foundation for future cooperation.
