Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, held a phone call on Saturday regarding Qatar Libya talks. He spoke with Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
During their discussion, both sides addressed the latest developments in Libya, especially the tense situation in the capital, Tripoli. Khulaifi expressed Qatar’s deep concern over recent events and emphasized the urgent need for calm and restraint.
Qatar urged all Libyan parties to avoid escalation and resolve differences through inclusive and constructive dialogue. Khulaifi reiterated Qatar’s unwavering support for Libya’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial unity.
Furthermore, he underlined Qatar’s firm backing of the United Nations-led political process. This includes relevant Security Council resolutions and initiatives aimed at fostering a peaceful resolution to the crisis. He also reaffirmed that Qatar stands with the Libyan people in their aspirations for peace, development, and national unity.
This diplomatic engagement reflects Qatar’s consistent foreign policy approach. It prioritizes mediation, conflict resolution, and multilateral cooperation—particularly in conflict-affected regions like Libya.
