Shura Council Approves Amendments to the Associations Law to Support Safe Investment of Funds

The Shura Council held its 28th session this morning, chaired by the Speaker of the Council. During the session, members discussed several important issues and approved amendments to the Associations Law. The amendments will allow associations to safely invest their funds, providing a new framework for managing these resources responsibly.

The session started with the ratification of the previous meeting’s minutes. Next, the Assistant Secretary-General for Legislative Affairs read out a statement from the Shura Council. The statement marked Bahrain Press Day and World Press Freedom Day. The Council highlighted the vital role of the national press in supporting Bahrain’s development. It also emphasized how the press embodies the leadership’s vision, focusing on nation-building and societal awareness.

The Shura Council commended the national media’s continued commitment to professional ethics. It recognized the media’s role in delivering responsible and accurate information. The Council also praised the media for adapting to the global digital transformation. This adaptation enhances content quality, expands reach, and improves the effectiveness of media messages.

Furthermore, the Shura Council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the press. It emphasized the importance of promoting the free exchange of ideas, which is crucial for building a stable society. This commitment reflects the Council’s belief in the role of journalism in shaping informed communities.

The session also covered several legislative matters. The Council discussed various draft laws, including the Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement between Bahrain and South Korea. It reviewed a draft law concerning the elimination of double taxation with Oman. Additionally, members discussed a draft law regulating labor market policies.

The Council then addressed a question related to medical errors in Bahrain’s healthcare system. The Minister of Health responded, outlining the steps Bahrain is taking to address the issue.

In conclusion, the session ended with the approval of a draft law concerning a power plant project. The project, aimed at financing the construction of a new 400 kV power plant, will move forward for further steps.

Throughout the session, the Shura Council demonstrated its continuous efforts to enhance Bahrain’s legal and legislative framework.
