The Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has signed six major contracts with local and international companies to develop a comprehensive affordable housing project. With a total value of KD 785.3 million (approximately $2.6 billion), the project will feature 9,800 houses. Additionally, it will include extensive public buildings and infrastructure improvements. Each contract is scheduled for completion within 1,095 days. The entire project is set to conclude by early 2028.
Rashid Al-Enzi, Director General of PAHW, announced that the project encompasses a wide range of developments, including 74 public buildings. These include two kindergartens, ten primary schools, eight middle schools, and six secondary schools. Additionally, the project will feature 14 main mosques, 16 houses for imams and muezzins, a fire station, and a telephone exchange. It will also include two community development centers and various other essential services such as police and health centers, markets, and gas stations.
The affordable housing project will also address key infrastructure needs, such as the installation of road lighting networks, low and medium-pressure cables, and roadworks. Furthermore, 6,455 homes across seven suburbs will be constructed and maintained as part of the ongoing development efforts.
The project reflects the authority’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents. It aims to deliver integrated housing solutions with a strong focus on sustainability and convenience. Al-Enzi emphasized the importance of closely monitoring the progress of ongoing contracts, particularly those launched in January. These contracts focus on the construction of 3,345 homes and related infrastructure in specific sectors.
