Bahrain showcased its commitment to data investment during the 2025 Financing for Development Forum. The event, hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), took place at the UN Headquarters in New York City on April 28-29. Dana Emad Hamza, Bahrain’s Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Development, participated in the ministerial dialogue session titled “Investing in Data to Accelerate Development.”
Hamza emphasized Bahrain’s dedication to using data as a key driver of development. She explained that data plays a crucial role in fostering innovation and guiding decision-making. By prioritizing data, Bahrain seeks to accelerate growth and achieve sustainable development through digital transformation.
Additionally, Bahrain focuses on data quality and accuracy. Hamza highlighted that reliable data helps Bahrain develop innovative solutions and set clear development priorities. She also noted that investing in data aligns with Bahrain’s goals of financial inclusion and technological advancement in both public and private sectors.
Hamza also discussed Bahrain’s efforts to improve data monitoring, analysis, and exchange. The Kingdom is strengthening its national statistical systems to ensure accurate data collection. This initiative will help track progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), supporting Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030. This vision prioritizes innovation, sustainability, and development.
The 2025 Financing for Development Forum also attracted representatives from member states, international organizations, and civil society. They focused on closing financing gaps and promoting inclusive economic growth. The forum also discussed ways to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs by 2030. Bahrain’s active participation underscored its leadership in investing in data to support global development.
Looking ahead, the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) will be held in Seville, Spain, from June 30 to July 1, 2025. Bahrain’s ongoing investment in data will continue to drive global progress and development.
