Peru’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmer Schiater Salcedo, has called on Qatari investors to explore the wide range of business opportunities in Peru. He highlighted sectors such as minerals, food security, infrastructure, and agriculture.
Speaking during a meeting held at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha with a Qatar Chamber delegation, Salcedo emphasized his country’s strong desire to deepen economic and commercial ties with Qatar. The meeting was attended by Qatar Chamber Second Vice-Chairman Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba, Board Member Nasser bin Sulaiman Al Haider, and Peru’s Ambassador to Qatar, Gonzalo Voto Bernales Gatica.
Salcedo highlighted Peru’s growing presence in the Qatari market, particularly in agricultural and halal products. He expressed his country’s ambition to boost exports further. Additionally, he invited Qatari business owners to visit Peru and explore investment opportunities firsthand. He encouraged participation in major exhibitions and trade events focusing on agriculture, industry, and food sectors.
In response, Rashid Al Athba reaffirmed Qatar Chamber’s commitment to strengthening cooperation between business communities in both countries. He welcomed the idea of developing partnerships and investments. Furthermore, he proposed organizing a joint business forum to bring together entrepreneurs from Qatar and Peru. The forum would focus on discussing areas of mutual interest.
Nasser Al Haider, a Qatar Chamber Board Member, stressed the need to activate the memorandum of understanding signed between the two chambers. This aims to facilitate cooperation and encourage mutual visits and exchanges between the two nations’ private sectors.
The meeting marks a significant step toward enhancing economic ties between Qatar and Peru. This paves the way for greater collaboration in diverse industries.
