Saudi Arabia has named 17 companies licensed to serve more than 1.2 million overseas pilgrims. They are set to arrive for the upcoming annual Hajj pilgrimage.
The licensed service providers have begun implementing their operational plans. The countdown continues for the arrival of pilgrims, with the Hajj expected to start in a few weeks.
In recent years, Saudi Arabia’s Hajj service sector has seen intensified competition among companies. This occurs after the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah adopted new regulatory reforms.
Introduced two years ago, the new rules allow companies to operate without nationality-based restrictions.
Eligibility requirements for licensed firms include securing a five-year renewable license. They must ensure Saudi ownership and management. Additionally, they should maintain a minimum capital of SR5 million for every 100,000 pilgrims served.
