Sharjah Institute for Heritage Hosts Intergenerational Gathering to Strengthen Cultural Identity

The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) organised a meaningful intergenerational gathering on April 23 and 24. The event aimed at preserving cultural heritage and strengthening national identity.

The event was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Community Empowerment, the Sharjah Social Services Department, and the Senior Citizens Services Centre at Al Asala Club. It reflected the Institute’s enduring commitment to connecting communities through shared heritage.

Held at the Institute’s headquarters, the event brought together youth, adults, and elders in a shared space of learning and cultural exchange. Participants included heritage experts, cultural enthusiasts, and citizens of all ages. This assembly fostered dialogue and created opportunities for shared experiences across generations.

The first day featured activities centred around the marine environment. There was a traditional performance of Al Nahma, an Emirati sea chant, immersing attendees in the memory of the sea’s vital role in Emirati life. Storytelling and performance activities encouraged engagement and interaction across age groups.

On the second day, educational and interactive sessions were specially organised for women from Al Asala Club. These heritage-rich activities aimed to reinforce cultural identity and celebrate inherited values.
