Ancient Inscriptions and Rock Art Discovered in Saudi Royal Reserve

The King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority (KARRDA) has announced the discovery of significant archaeological sites in the southern Rawdat Al-Khafs region, shedding new light on the Kingdom’s ancient history. The announcement coincided with World Heritage Day, celebrated annually on April 18.

The newly uncovered sites contain early Arabic inscriptions and rock engravings depicting human and animal figures. These artifacts are believed to date back to between the 4th century BC and the 1st century AD, offering valuable insight into early civilizations in the Arabian Peninsula.

KARRDA emphasized that the discovery reinforces the historical and cultural richness of the reserve and underlines the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to preserving its national heritage.
