Coello, Tapia cruise into quarters as top seeds dominate in Qatar Major Padel

The top-seeded pairs in both the men’s and women’s categories continued their dominant run at the Ooredoo Qatar Major Premier Padel 2025. They booked spots in the quarter-finals at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.

Spanish-Argentine duo and tournament favorites Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia put on a commanding display on Center Court. They defeated Argentina’s Juan Cruz Belluati and Ignacio Sager in straight sets (6–2, 6–4).

Second seeds Federico Chingotto and Alejandro Galan also progressed smoothly. They overcame Lucas Campagnolo and Maximiliano Sanchez 7–5, 6–3 after a competitive first set.

The third-seeded Spanish pair, Jorge Nieto and Miguel Yanguas, delivered one of the most emphatic victories of the tournament so far. They blanked Mario Del Castillo and Ignacio Albornoz 6–0, 6–0.

Fourth seeds Javier Garrido and Martín Di Nenno survived a thrilling three-set battle against Spaniards Francisco Guerrero and Jairo Bautista. They eventually prevailed 7–6(2), 1–6, 6–1 in a match that lasted nearly two hours.

Fifth seeds Jeronimo Gonzalez and Jon Sanz also secured their quarter-final berth. They achieved a 6–3, 4–6 win over Aris Patiniotis and David Gala Sanchez.

On the women’s side, top seeds Ariana Sanchez Fallada and Paula Josemaría Martin breezed past Marta Talavan and Ksenia Sharifova 6–0, 6–0. They advanced to the next round.

Second seeds Gemma Triay Pons and Delfina Brea Senesi had to dig deep. They came back from a set down to defeat Marta Guinart Espana and Victoria Iglesias Segador 2–6, 6–4, 6–1.

Other advancing women’s pairs included Belen Gonzalez Fernandez and Carmen Fernandez Sanchez. Additionally, Tamara Icardo Alcorisa and Claudia Jensen, Lucia Sainz Pelegri and Patricia Llaguno Zielinski, and Marta Ortega Gallego and Sofia Araujo also advanced.

With all top-seeded teams moving forward, the stage is set for an electrifying showdown in the next round of the tournament.
