Saudi Arabia’s point-of-sale (POS) transactions saw a 4% increase, reaching a total of SR13.6 billion ($3.6 billion) for the week ending March 15. The growth was driven by a boost in consumer spending across various sectors, reflecting the country’s robust retail activity.
Jewelry led the way in transaction value growth, with an impressive 31.1% increase, totaling SR419.2 million. The sector also experienced a 29.5% rise in the number of transactions, which reached 300,000. This surge highlights the strong demand for luxury goods in the Kingdom.
The clothing and footwear sector also saw notable growth, with a 22.8% rise in transaction value, bringing it to SR1.5 billion. This sector secured the third-largest share of POS transactions during the week. Additionally, hotel spending increased by 19.1%, reaching SR352.6 million, with transactions growing by 20.1%, totaling 649,000.
