Al-Ajari Center Predicts Eid al-Fitr on March 30, Moon Visibility Uncertain

The Al-Ajari Scientific Center has announced that, based on detailed astronomical calculations, the first day of Shawwal 1446 AH, marking Eid al-Fitr, will fall on Sunday, March 30, 2025. However, the visibility of the crescent moon, which signals the end of Ramadan, remains uncertain.

According to the Center’s experts, observing the crescent moon on the 29th of Ramadan 1446 AH (March 29, 2025) in Kuwait will be particularly challenging. In fact, it may be impossible to spot the crescent in the skies. The calculations reveal that the moon will be born at 1:57 PM on Saturday, March 29, but it will only be visible for a brief 8 minutes in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. As a result, the Center emphasizes that the final determination of Eid al-Fitr’s date will depend on the decision of the Sharia Sighting Authority.

The visibility of the crescent moon will vary across different regions. In several Arab and Islamic capitals, the crescent will be visible for between 4 and 20 minutes, depending on their geographical position. However, in some Southeast Asian countries, the crescent will set before the sun, making it impossible to observe.

Given the uncertainties surrounding the moon’s visibility, the official start of Shawwal will be confirmed once the moon sighting is declared by the appropriate authorities. This will finalize the date for the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
