Passenger Traffic in Oman Airports Reaches Over 1.3 Million by January 2025

By the end of January 2025, Oman’s airports saw a total of 1,331,619 passengers. This includes both international and domestic flights, according to preliminary statistics from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Muscat International Airport, the largest hub, reported a total of 1,200,339 passengers by the end of January 2025. This figure shows a slight decrease of 7% compared to previous data. Among the total passengers, 1,109,650 were international travelers, while 90,689 were domestic.

The number of flights at Muscat International Airport also reached 8,099 by January 2025. Of these, 7,410 were international flights, and 689 were domestic. Among the passengers, Indian nationals led the figures, with 90,081 arrivals and 86,762 departures. Omani nationals followed with 62,255 arrivals and 74,104 departures. Additionally, 30,355 Pakistani passengers arrived, while 25,377 departed.

In contrast, Salalah Airport saw a rise in passenger numbers, with 126,506 passengers traveling through it by January 2025. This represents an increase of 5% compared to the previous year. The airport also saw 822 flights during this period, a 1.6% increase from last year. Out of the total, 404 were international flights, bringing in 59,429 passengers, and 418 were domestic flights, carrying 67,077 passengers.

Duqm Airport, on the other hand, recorded 4,774 domestic passengers over 52 flights. This highlights the ongoing growth of regional airports in the country.

The total number of flights landing and departing across Oman’s airports stood at 8,983 by the end of January 2025. The passenger numbers at Oman’s airports underscore the steady demand for both international and domestic air travel, despite a slight drop at Muscat International.

In summary, passenger traffic in Oman’s airports continues to show positive trends, particularly at Salalah Airport. The data reflects Oman’s ongoing growth in the aviation sector, with significant contributions from international and domestic travelers alike.
