Healthy Habits Start at Home, Says Saudi Authority

Riyadh: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has stressed the importance of parental responsibility in shaping children’s eating habits, highlighting the family’s key role in preventing obesity.

Marking World Obesity Day on March 4, the SFDA urged families to make healthier food choices, encouraging children to swap sugary drinks like soda for water and natural fruit juices.

The authority also advised significantly reducing fast-food intake, a major factor in weight gain and related health risks. Instead of frying, parents are encouraged to use healthier cooking methods such as grilling and roasting to promote better nutrition at home.

With obesity rates rising globally, the SFDA emphasized the need for greater community awareness to combat this growing health challenge. By adopting mindful eating practices, families can play a crucial role in fostering healthier lifestyles for future generations.
