The Academic Bridge Program (ABP), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), recently hosted an open day. The event aimed to introduce students to its academic programs and educational pathways. It welcomed over 500 high school students from both public and private schools across Qatar.
This initiative aimed to engage prospective students for the upcoming academic year while fostering stronger ties with school counselors. The open day provided a detailed overview of ABP’s departments and featured participation from QF-affiliated higher education institutions.
Students and school counselors had the opportunity to interact with ABP representatives, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of available academic programs. The event also allowed students to experience ABP’s learning environment firsthand. Additionally, they could explore higher education opportunities suited to their goals.
Dr. Saheim Khalaf Al Temimi, ABP’s Director, highlighted the significance of the event. He stated, “This open day is a milestone for ABP, offering a valuable platform to showcase our programs, diverse academic pathways, and student successes to a wide audience.”
He emphasized the importance of collaboration. He added, “We are committed to strengthening ties with the local community, schools, and our strategic partners. This event attracted over 450 students from 48 schools. It reinforces the vital role of educational partnerships in Qatar.”
Dr. Al Temimi also acknowledged the crucial role of school counselors. He stated, “Counselors play a key role in guiding students toward higher education opportunities. By engaging with them, we ensure they have a clear understanding of the academic pathways offered at ABP. This allows them to provide the best possible guidance.”
Dr. Dhaher Ahmed Al Askar, Head of the Academic and Career Guidance Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), praised the collaboration with ABP. He said, “Our partnership helps students access top university programs. ABP serves as a bridge, supporting ambitious students in overcoming academic gaps and reaching their higher education goals.”
He further noted that the open day gave students valuable insights into university admission requirements and career opportunities. “At MoEHE, we support students in discovering their academic and career interests. We use specialized assessments starting in ninth and tenth grade. These assessments help them make informed decisions while aligning their choices with labor market needs,” he added.
The open day reaffirmed ABP’s role in preparing students for higher education and strengthening partnerships between educational institutions in Qatar. Through events like these, students gain the knowledge and resources needed to navigate their academic futures successfully.
