Bahrain Basketball Team Moves Up in FIBA Rankings, Reaching New Heights

The Bahrain national basketball team has made impressive progress in the latest FIBA world rankings. The team climbed one spot to reach 66th place globally and 11th in Asia. This marks the highest position Bahrain has ever achieved in its basketball history.

This remarkable rise highlights the team’s strong performances in recent tournaments. Consequently, Bahrain secured key victories against tough opponents, which significantly boosted its points in the world rankings. As a result, these wins demonstrate the squad’s steady improvement and growing competitiveness.

With this ranking, Bahrain basketball is reaching new heights. At the same time, the team is now preparing for a crucial playoff round for the 2025 Asian Cup. They will face Iraq and India in a decisive battle to qualify for the tournament. Therefore, the upcoming matches will be essential for their continued success.

Over the years, the sport has seen tremendous growth in Bahrain, mainly due to the support of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. As President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, he has played a key role in developing basketball in the country. Moreover, his continuous backing has helped the national team compete at a higher level. In addition, his efforts have strengthened the team’s ability to challenge stronger opponents.

Bahrain’s latest jump in rankings places it ahead of teams like Kazakhstan and Syria. Clearly, this achievement shows the country’s basketball program is moving in the right direction. Furthermore, the squad is now on the verge of breaking into the top 10 teams in Asia. Meanwhile, the team continues to focus on improving its skills and strategies.

Alaa Madara, President of the Bahrain Basketball Association, expressed his excitement about this milestone. In particular, he praised the players, coaches, and management for their dedication and hard work. Additionally, he credited the strong support system that has fueled the team’s progress. Likewise, he acknowledged the role of fans in motivating the squad.

“This ranking boost gives our team a huge morale lift,” Madara said. “Bahrain basketball is reaching new heights, and we are determined to keep improving.”

Now, the team is focusing on the upcoming playoff games in March. Notably, they will compete in Bahrain for a chance to qualify for the Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia this August. With momentum on their side, Bahrain basketball is reaching new heights and aiming for even greater success.
