Oman’s Together We Progress Forum

Muscat: Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Oman’s Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, recently discussed improving dialogue between the government and citizens. During the third dialogue session of the “Together We Progress” forum, he stressed the importance of involving the public in decision-making.

His Highness also emphasized collaboration with the Ministry of Education to support young talents. He mentioned last year’s military discipline program. About 700 students participated in it, gaining valuable skills for future challenges.

He further highlighted the ongoing focus on developing sports infrastructure. A major part of this is the new football stadium, which will help Oman host regional matches.

Meanwhile, H.E. the Minister of Labor addressed the government’s employment strategy. He mentioned that the health and education sectors account for around 6,000 new jobs annually. The military sector also requires similar staffing.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor, H.E., spoke about vocational education. He said that graduates are highly sought after in both the government and private sectors. Currently, over 8,000 students are enrolled in vocational colleges. The training system is under review to improve its effectiveness.

Additionally, H.E. the Minister of Energy and Minerals discussed the Social Protection Fund. The fund supports over 1.4 million beneficiaries, including the elderly, children, and families in need. He assured that efforts are underway to improve the social protection system. Feedback from the community is being collected to make necessary changes.

The CEO of the Social Protection Fund also provided updates. He revealed that nearly 590,000 Omanis are covered by social insurance programs. The fund aims to provide support to families, including essential benefits.
