Hessa bint Khalid Leads Bahrain’s Delegation at Gulf Women’s Sports Meeting

Her Excellency Sheikha Dr. Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa led Bahrain’s delegation at the fourth meeting of the Advisory Committee for Women’s Sports in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The meeting took place in Kuwait on February 23, 2025. It brought together important figures to discuss the future of women’s sports in the Gulf.

The agenda was comprehensive. First, the committee reviewed the recommendations from the 98th Executive Office meeting held in Qatar in November 2024. These focused on promoting women’s sports across the region. Next, they discussed the report on the Hackathon program held in Oman in March 2024. This program encouraged young women’s involvement in sports innovation.

Another key topic was the progress of the electronic platform for Gulf women’s sports. This platform helps connect female athletes, coaches, and administrators throughout the region. Additionally, the committee discussed the list of leadership and sports figures to be honored for their contributions.

The committee also approved the work plan for 2025. It includes initiatives to further develop women’s sports in the Gulf. The Bahrain Olympic Committee presented the “I Am Talented” project. This project, managed by the Equal Opportunities and Gender Balance Committee, seeks to provide more opportunities for women in sports.

On this occasion, Her Excellency Sheikha Dr. Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa thanked Kuwait for their warm hospitality. She emphasized the importance of these meetings in advancing Gulf women’s sports. She also praised the efforts of all Gulf Olympic committees in supporting women’s sports. Her appreciation for the Advisory Committee’s work was clear.
