Saudi Arabia’s Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud has inaugurated two medical facilities at a security complex in eastern Riyadh. The new facilities aim to improve healthcare access and strengthen medical services for security personnel and other eligible beneficiaries.
The inauguration took place on Tuesday and included a medical center and clinics operated by the Ministry of Interior’s medical services. Together, these facilities expand the ministry’s capacity to provide treatment, rehabilitation and medical assessments.
During his visit, Prince Abdulaziz toured the medical center and reviewed its equipment and available services. Staff briefed him on the facility’s diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including emergency care, general medicine, physical therapy and rehabilitation.
The center also provides pharmacy services, helping patients access medication alongside other medical support. By bringing several healthcare services together, the facility aims to make treatment more convenient for people who qualify for care.
Moreover, the center’s range of services supports patients with different medical needs. Emergency teams can address urgent cases, while general medical services provide consultations and routine assessments. Meanwhile, physical therapy and rehabilitation can help patients recover function following injuries or other health challenges.
The inauguration forms part of the Ministry of Interior’s medical services, which support healthcare needs connected with the kingdom’s security sector. Improving access to appropriate treatment can also help beneficiaries receive care through a coordinated service network.
Prince Abdulaziz also opened the Military Medical Committee clinics at the same security complex. These clinics focus on medical examinations for applicants seeking positions within Saudi Arabia’s security sectors.
Their primary responsibility involves assessing whether applicants meet the medical fitness requirements for service. Through examinations and evaluations, the clinics help determine applicants’ suitability for duties that may involve demanding physical and operational responsibilities.
The assessments provide an important screening stage for recruitment into security-related roles. In addition, dedicated medical facilities can help organise examinations and support a more consistent evaluation process for applicants.
The two facilities therefore serve different but complementary purposes within the ministry’s medical services. The medical center provides treatment and rehabilitation, while the committee clinics evaluate applicants’ health and fitness for security work.
Their opening highlights the ministry’s continued investment in healthcare infrastructure serving its beneficiaries. However, officials have not provided further details about the facilities’ capacity, staffing levels or expected patient numbers.
As the facilities begin operating, their services are intended to improve access to medical care and streamline assessments. The ministry’s approach combines clinical treatment with medical screening to support the wider needs of Saudi Arabia’s security sector.
The new center and clinics add to the healthcare services available at the eastern Riyadh security complex. Their long-term contribution will depend on how effectively they meet beneficiaries’ treatment needs and applicants’ assessment requirements.
