Bahrain Indonesia Ties continue to develop through stronger cooperation, shared values and expanding connections between their communities. Indonesian Ambassador to Bahrain Ardi Hermawan highlighted the relationship during a reception in Manama marking Indonesia’s 81st Independence Anniversary.
The ambassador said both countries have maintained more than four decades of friendship built around mutual respect and common interests. Over the years, their relationship has expanded beyond diplomatic engagement into several areas of practical cooperation. These areas include political dialogue, trade, investment, parliamentary exchanges, cultural activities and educational partnerships.
Moreover, Ambassador Hermawan highlighted the importance of stronger connections between the people of Bahrain and Indonesia. He described both countries as Muslim-majority nations with archipelagic identities and shared aspirations for peaceful coexistence. According to his remarks, these common values continue to provide opportunities for closer understanding between their societies.
The reception also provided an opportunity to promote Indonesia’s upcoming trade and investment platform to Bahraini businesses. Hermawan invited companies from Bahrain to participate in the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia, scheduled for October 14 through 18.
The event is expected to feature approximately 1,500 companies presenting Indonesian products, industries and investment opportunities. Organisers have also set a targeted transaction value of $17.5 billion for the upcoming trade exhibition. Consequently, the ambassador encouraged Bahraini businesses to explore the event for potential commercial partnerships.
He said Bahraini companies could use the exhibition to discover Indonesian businesses and develop stronger commercial relationships. Furthermore, he linked greater business participation with opportunities to expand bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.
The ambassador also addressed the regional security environment during his remarks at the Manama reception. He stated that Indonesia supports Bahrain’s efforts to preserve peace, security and stability amid challenging regional circumstances.
In addition, Hermawan expressed appreciation for Bahrain’s measures to protect citizens and residents during difficult periods. He specifically acknowledged the protection provided to Bahrain’s Indonesian community alongside other residents.
The security discussion added another dimension to the broader relationship between the two countries. While economic and cultural cooperation remains important, both sides also continue to emphasize stability and peaceful coexistence.
The reception brought together senior Bahraini officials, members of the Shura Council and Council of Representatives, diplomats and representatives of the Indonesian community. Their participation reflected the range of institutions and communities connected through the bilateral relationship.
