Kuwait Diplomacy Expands Talks at UN General Assembly

Kuwait Diplomacy featured prominently in New York as Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah held three meetings during UN General Assembly week. The meetings brought together Kuwait’s foreign minister, Tunisian and Djiboutian counterparts, and a senior World Food Programme official. Officials held the discussions at Kuwait’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations during the high-level week.

Sheikh Jarrah first met Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti. During their meeting, the two ministers reviewed relations between Kuwait and Tunisia and discussed opportunities. They also explored ways to expand cooperation across several areas of mutual interest between their countries.

The two officials also exchanged views on regional and international developments during their discussions in New York. Furthermore, they addressed issues of common interest as part of their wider diplomatic engagement. The meeting provided an opportunity to review existing ties while considering possibilities for broader cooperation.

Sheikh Jarrah subsequently held a separate meeting with Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Government Spokesperson, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf. The two ministers reviewed bilateral relations and discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.

During that meeting, the officials also exchanged perspectives on regional and international developments. They discussed matters of common interest while reviewing the relationship between Kuwait and Djibouti. In addition, the meeting allowed both sides to consider areas where their cooperation could expand further.

The discussions with the Tunisian and Djiboutian ministers took place as countries gathered for the United Nations General Assembly. The annual high-level meetings bring government representatives together in New York for diplomatic discussions. Against that setting, Kuwait used the meetings to maintain contact with regional and international partners.

Sheikh Jarrah also received World Food Programme Acting Executive Director Carl Skau at Kuwait’s UN mission. Their meeting focused on relations between Kuwait and the international humanitarian organization. They also discussed joint humanitarian efforts and opportunities for stronger cooperation.

According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting addressed ways to improve responses to regional crises. The discussions therefore focused on humanitarian cooperation and the effectiveness of joint efforts during emergencies. Both sides considered how continued coordination could support responses to humanitarian challenges.

The WFP meeting added a humanitarian dimension to the minister’s diplomatic meetings in New York. While the other meetings centered mainly on bilateral relations, this discussion focused on humanitarian cooperation. Together, the three meetings covered diplomatic, regional and humanitarian issues.

Kuwait Diplomacy also included discussions with countries from North Africa and the Horn of Africa. The meetings reflected Kuwait’s engagement with Tunisia and Djibouti during the UN General Assembly. Meanwhile, the discussion with the WFP addressed humanitarian coordination and responses to regional crises.

The meetings took place on Saturday during the high-level week of the 81st UN General Assembly. Sheikh Jarrah held all three discussions at Kuwait’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations. The location provided a setting for bilateral meetings alongside the wider UN gathering.

The talks with Tunisia covered bilateral relations and opportunities for broader cooperation across various fields. Similarly, discussions with Djibouti addressed bilateral ties and potential cooperation across different sectors. Both meetings also included exchanges on regional and international developments.

The meeting with the WFP focused on Kuwait’s relationship with the organization and their humanitarian efforts. Officials also examined ways to strengthen cooperation and improve responses to regional crises. The discussions therefore connected Kuwait’s diplomatic engagement with wider humanitarian coordination.

Kuwait Diplomacy continued through separate discussions involving government officials and an international humanitarian organization. The meetings addressed bilateral ties, regional developments, international issues and humanitarian cooperation. They also provided opportunities for officials to exchange views on matters of shared interest.

The meetings concluded a series of diplomatic engagements for Sheikh Jarrah during the UN General Assembly’s high-level week. His discussions covered Kuwait’s relations with Tunisia and Djibouti alongside cooperation with the WFP. Officials also addressed opportunities to strengthen existing partnerships across diplomatic and humanitarian areas.
