School Readiness Efforts Intensify Across Kuwait

The Ministry of Education has intensified school readiness efforts as Kuwait prepares for the 2026/2027 academic year. Through its “Report” program, the ministry has resolved 8,602 reports submitted by schools during the summer preparation period. The completed reports represent 65.2 percent of more than 13,000 observations recorded across educational facilities.

The program aims to identify school requirements early and ensure responsible departments address them before students return. Therefore, education officials have urged schools, maintenance teams, and service departments to strengthen coordination during the remaining preparation period.

Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Hamad Al-Hamad emphasized the importance of completing unresolved requirements according to each school’s priorities. He also called for faster cooperation between educational zones and the departments responsible for maintenance and essential services.

Meanwhile, the ministry continues monitoring reports through a unified electronic system connecting schools with educational districts and readiness teams. Once a school submits an observation, the system directs it to the appropriate authority for action. Officials can then track progress until workers complete the required measures and formally close each report.

During the summer vacation, teams reviewed thousands of requirements involving several important areas of school operations. These included civil and electrical maintenance, air-conditioning systems, water coolers, and general cleanliness.

In addition, schools reported needs involving textbooks, classroom furniture, office equipment, and other materials required before the academic year begins. Consequently, the electronic system has helped authorities organize these requests while giving responsible departments clearer information about outstanding work.

The ministry reported that 20.5 percent of submitted reports remain under active consideration or implementation. Another 14.3 percent consist of newly submitted observations that authorities are currently reviewing. Officials therefore expect the workload to continue changing as schools identify additional needs during final preparations.

The Education Ministry plans to maintain intensive follow-up until teams complete the remaining reports and related works. Moreover, officials want every sector to coordinate closely so schools can address urgent requirements without unnecessary delays.

According to the ministry, the “Report” program has improved the process of identifying problems and directing them to responsible authorities. It has also strengthened communication between individual schools, educational districts, and specialized departments.

At the same time, the ministry considers the program an important part of broader school readiness planning. By monitoring maintenance, supplies, services, and infrastructure requirements electronically, officials can respond more efficiently to problems before students arrive.

The ministry also stressed that readiness teams must focus on actual school priorities rather than simply closing reports quickly. This approach allows authorities to direct resources toward requirements that could affect students and staff most directly.

As preparations continue, officials will monitor progress across educational zones and follow up on unresolved requirements. The ministry expects stronger coordination between departments to support a smoother opening of the new academic year.

Overall, the continued work aims to ensure schools provide suitable facilities, essential supplies, and functioning services when students return. These measures will support school readiness and help education authorities begin the 2026/2027 academic year with fewer outstanding issues.
