Iran Says IRGC Struck US Fifth Fleet Sites In Bahrain

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched a new round of military strikes targeting facilities linked to the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, marking the latest escalation in its confrontation with Washington.

In a statement released early Wednesday, the IRGC said the fifth phase of its military campaign, known as Operation Nasr 2 (Victory 2), targeted what it described as the US Fifth Fleet’s command and control center, logistics warehouses storing military equipment, fuel depots, and an NSI management center in Bahrain.

The IRGC claimed the operation was carried out by its naval forces at dawn and asserted that the targeted facilities were “destroyed.” The claims could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate confirmation from US or Bahraini authorities.

Iran said the strikes were a response to what it described as US actions in the Indian Ocean and accused Washington of interfering with maritime traffic and energy exports through the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement also warned that if Iran’s oil and gas exports are disrupted, other regional energy export routes serving the interests of the United States and its allies could also face disruption.

The announcement comes amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington. Iranian officials have repeatedly accused the United States of violating previous understandings aimed at reducing hostilities and of supporting maritime operations that Tehran considers unlawful in the Strait of Hormuz.

US officials had not publicly responded to the IRGC’s claims at the time of publication.
