Iraq has expressed its condolences to Saudi Arabia following the crash of a Saudi Aramco helicopter in Ras Tanura that killed all 14 people on board.
In a statement, Iraq’s Foreign Ministry extended its sympathies to the Saudi government and people, expressing solidarity with the families of those who lost their lives in the accident.
The ministry said Iraq stands with Saudi Arabia during this difficult time and wished peace, safety and stability for the kingdom and its people.
The helicopter crashed near Ras Tanura in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. Saudi authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
The tragedy marks one of the deadliest helicopter incidents involving Saudi Aramco’s operations in recent years.
The statement also highlighted the close relationship between Baghdad and Riyadh, noting continued cooperation between the two countries in political, economic and energy sectors.
Bilateral ties have strengthened in recent years through increased trade, investment and coordination on regional issues.
