UAE And France Explore New Economic Partnerships

The United Arab Emirates and France have explored new opportunities to deepen economic cooperation, with discussions focusing on tourism, aviation, entrepreneurship and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The talks took place during a visit by the UAE delegation to Paris for VivaTech 2026, a major technology and innovation event that brings together government leaders, entrepreneurs and industry experts from around the world.

UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri met French Minister for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Trade, Crafts, Tourism and Purchasing Power Serge Papin to review areas of mutual interest and identify opportunities for further collaboration.

The two sides discussed expanding partnerships in tourism through joint initiatives, skills development programmes and closer cooperation between educational institutions specialising in hospitality and tourism management.

Officials also explored ways to promote tourism destinations in both countries and strengthen collaboration through programmes led by the United Nations World Tourism Organization. Discussions included preparations for future tourism initiatives as the UAE prepares to host a meeting of the UN Tourism Executive Council later this year.

Tourism continues to play an important role in economic relations between the two countries. More than 840,000 French visitors travelled to the UAE in 2025, while air connectivity remains strong with dozens of weekly flights operating between the two markets.

The meeting also highlighted the UAE’s efforts to strengthen its entrepreneurship ecosystem. Officials reviewed incentives available to startups and SMEs, including policies that support foreign investment, business growth and innovation.

According to UAE officials, the number of French companies operating in the country has risen significantly in recent years, reflecting growing commercial ties and investor confidence in the UAE’s business environment.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic partnerships and supporting sustainable growth across key sectors of mutual interest.
