UAE To Host Next UN Tourism Executive Council Meeting

The United Arab Emirates has been selected to host the next session of the UN Tourism Executive Council, marking a continued role for the Gulf state in shaping global tourism policy.

The announcement followed the 126th meeting of the council held in Toledo, Spain, where member states discussed key priorities for the future of the tourism sector, including sustainability, digital transformation and investment in innovation.

Officials said the decision reflects growing international confidence in the UAE’s tourism model, which has focused on diversification, infrastructure development and long-term economic planning.

The UAE delegation was led by the Minister of Economy and Tourism, who highlighted the country’s strategy to strengthen the tourism sector’s contribution to national growth while promoting sustainability and innovation.

Discussions at the council also focused on preparations for upcoming global initiatives, including long-term planning for sustainable tourism development and the role of technology and artificial intelligence in improving visitor experiences.

The upcoming UAE-hosted session is expected to bring together international policymakers and industry leaders to address challenges facing global tourism and explore opportunities for cooperation.
