Kuwait Revises High School Exam Dates Over Hijri Holiday

Kuwait’s Ministry of Education said on Monday it is adjusting preparations for Grade 12 final examinations to accommodate possible changes linked to the Hijri New Year holidays.

Education Minister Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei held a meeting with senior ministry officials to review arrangements for the exams and discuss contingency plans depending on when the lunar New Year holiday is officially declared.

According to a ministry statement, the revised schedules were introduced following feedback from students and parents seeking greater flexibility during the holiday period.

Under the first scenario, if the Hijri New Year holiday is observed on Tuesday, June 16, examinations will begin the following day according to the previously approved timetable. In this case, science section exams will conclude on June 28, while literary and religious section exams will end on June 29.

However, if the holiday falls on June 17 and 18, officials said exams will instead begin on Sunday, June 21, while maintaining the same sequence of subjects.

Under the adjusted schedule, science section exams would finish on July 1, while literary and religious exams would conclude the next day. Results are expected to be announced on July 3.

The ministry said final versions of the examination schedules will be published on its official website once the relevant authorities confirm the Hijri New Year holiday dates.

Officials also stressed the importance of ensuring a stable educational environment and minimizing disruption for students during the examination period.
