Morocco And Brazil Share World Cup Opening Draw

Morocco and Brazil opened their World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw in a lively Group C clash at the New York–New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, where more than 80,000 fans created a vibrant atmosphere.

The match delivered early drama, with both sides finding the net in the first half before a tense second period that saw few clear chances but plenty of intensity from the stands.

Morocco struck first through Ismail Saibari in the 21st minute, who finished a flowing move with a composed chipped effort that lifted the ball beyond the Brazilian goalkeeper.

The goal sent Moroccan supporters into celebration, with chants echoing across the stadium as the North African side looked to build on their advantage.

Brazil responded in typical fashion, with Vinícius Júnior finding space inside the box to level the score 11 minutes later, firing a precise strike into the top corner.

Both teams pushed for a winner, but chances became limited as the game progressed, with Morocco coming closest late on when they missed a clear opportunity in stoppage time.

Beyond the football, the occasion turned into a wider sporting celebration across the New York metropolitan area, as fans quickly shifted attention after the final whistle to the NBA Finals.

Supporters from both teams joined local crowds in celebrating the New York Knicks’ dramatic championship victory over the San Antonio Spurs, adding an unusual second highlight to an already memorable night.

The result leaves Group C finely balanced, with both Morocco and Brazil taking a point from their opening fixture in a tournament that continues to build early momentum.
