India has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Kuwait’s food security, with Indian Ambassador Paramita Tripathi saying exports of essential food products to the Gulf state have continued despite ongoing regional logistical challenges.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Indian Mango Festival in Kuwait, Tripathi said shipments of fruits, vegetables and meat from India were arriving regularly and that both countries were working closely to maintain the steady flow of goods.
“We are ready to support Kuwait with anything that is required,” the ambassador said, noting that alternative transport arrangements had helped ensure supplies continued reaching local markets.
Tripathi said highly perishable products, including mangoes, were being transported by air to preserve quality and meet demand in Kuwait.
The festival, held at The Avenues Mall, showcased several popular Indian mango varieties, including Alphonso, Kesar and Banganapalle, alongside mango-based desserts and drinks. The event attracted large numbers of visitors and highlighted the growing popularity of Indian agricultural products in Kuwait.
Describing mangoes as the “king of fruits,” Tripathi said India produces more than 500 varieties nationwide, with some gaining strong international demand.
The ambassador also encouraged Kuwaiti importers interested in sourcing Indian produce to coordinate with the Indian Embassy, which can help connect businesses with exporters across India.
She highlighted the long-standing trade relationship between India and Kuwait, saying commercial ties between the two countries date back centuries. While energy remains central to bilateral trade, she said there is growing potential to expand cooperation in agriculture and food products.
Tripathi added that increasing trade in sectors such as fruits and vegetables could further strengthen economic ties between India and Kuwait in the coming years.
