Oman, Kuwait Strengthen Political Cooperation

Omani and Kuwaiti officials have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening political coordination and expanding bilateral cooperation during the 11th session of the Oman-Kuwait Joint Committee held in Jabal Akhdar.

The meeting was chaired by Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, with discussions focusing on regional cooperation, diplomatic relations and closer coordination across several strategic sectors.

Both sides reviewed the long-standing ties between the two Gulf states and explored ways to deepen cooperation in areas including economic affairs, trade, science and culture, while also highlighting the importance of unified Gulf action.

Sayyid Badr said the meeting reflected the leaderships’ shared commitment to advancing bilateral relations and building broader partnerships that serve mutual interests. He added that regular meetings of the joint committee demonstrate the importance both countries place on institutional cooperation and political dialogue.

The Kuwaiti foreign minister said the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries this year reflects the strength of their historical ties and shared regional vision.

The two ministers also stressed that relations between Oman and Kuwait represent a strong model of Gulf cooperation based on mutual respect and common interests, particularly within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides signed the minutes of the committee session alongside a memorandum of understanding in cybersecurity and an executive programme related to standardisation.

Officials from both countries attended the discussions, which also focused on maintaining coordination on regional and bilateral issues of common concern.
